Walberswick Car Parks Limited was established in 1997 to help manage the large traffic flow and address the lack of appropriate parking in the village particularly during the busy summer months. Over the years, the number of cars entering the village has increased as Walberswick attracts large numbers of visitors throughout the year.
Parking charges are in place and enforced year-round and payment is via RingGo only. As of November 2023, WCPL had to end its long practice of accepting cash for the purchase of parking tickets and no longer uses ticket dispensing machines. This decision was dictated by the fact that Walberswick Car Parks, like many small businesses, was no longer able to find banking services that will handle cash-heavy transactions. We appreciate the patronage of all our customers and thank them for their understanding and support.
Various tariffs are available including a short stay option. These are displayed on boards in the car park and on the RingGo app. Attendants work during the busiest hours of the summer season to help manage the traffic and help drivers to park their vehicles in a way to maximise the available space. There are no public toilets in the car parks, but can be found next to the Village Hall located at the entrance to the Cliff Field track.
Walberswick Car Parks Limited is registered at Company’s House and run by a volunteer Board of Directors from the village and a part-time Operations Manager. All profit from parking charges is covenanted to the Walberswick Common Lands Charity which helps maintain the Commons and other paths and bridle ways, helps provide flood defence and provides charitable support to many causes and individuals in the local community. Please go to the Charity's own site to see some of the work it does.
