Parliamentary Constituency Boundary Review

This week the Boundary Commission for England (BCE) launched its third and final consultation on changes to Parliamentary constituencies in England, intended to come into effect for the next scheduled general election in 2022.

This is the last chance for people to have a say on decisions that could affect their area. The proposals published are a result of feedback from public consultations in September 2016 and March 2017.

Following a decision by Parliament to reduce the number of constituencies in the UK to 600 from 650, and to ensure that the number of electors in each constituency is more equal, the Boundary Commission for England is conducting the necessary review of all English constituencies.

I have attached a map image of the changes that have been proposed around the Suffolk Coastal and Central Suffolk & North Ipswich constituency boundary.

Suffolk Coastal DC have issued a press release and also included the information on our website, but we wanted to ensure that our towns and parishes were aware of the proposals too.

You can view the proposed changes and see what other people have already said about your local area online at: www.bce2018.org.uk. You will find an interactive map that’s quick and easy to use to respond to the consultation in minutes.

Suffolk’s Energy Gateway consultation: less than two weeks remaining

Since 12th September people have been having their say on the proposed new road to by-pass the villages of Farnham, Stratford St Andrew, Little Glemham and Marlesford on the A12. So far, we have received more than 160 consultation responses.

With less than two weeks to go before the consultation closes, I’m writing to encourage anyone who still wants to have their say, to do so by 25th October.

The proposed scheme is designed to provide a modern high quality road to enable, support and deliver economic growth in East Suffolk and enhance the quality of life for local people. Should the scheme be delivered, the existing road will remain open for local traffic, providing access to the four villages and local businesses.

It is very important that local residents, businesses and community groups get involved in this consultation to ensure that all local views and opinions are represented in the business case that the County Council must submit to Government before the end of 2017.

Thank you to the 200 plus people who attended the two public exhibitions. The discussion and views given will all help to inform our business case.

The consultation closes on 25th October 2017 at 23.59.

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) is currently building the 102 turbine East Anglia ONE offshore windfarm off the coast of Suffolk. This project will be followed by the East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm which recently received development consent.

Building on these first two projects within the East Anglian portfolio, SPR is now seeking to progress development of the East Anglia TWO and East Anglia ONE North offshore windfarms.

We are holding four Public Information Days (details below) to gauge opinion ahead of the formal consultation, where members of the project team will be available between 12pm and 7pm to answer questions you may have about the two new projects.
