Eveline Hastings was born in Highgate in 1933. Both her father and grandfather were sculptors and Eveline left school at 16 to go to Wimbledon School of Art, and later to The Slade School of Art where she was taught by William Coldstream, Claude Rogers and Lucian Freud. She took a postgraduate course at The Slade and entered for the Rome Scholarships in 1957. 

Eveline taught at a number of art schools, and was a visiting lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand in 1968/69. In 1990 she took early retirement to paint full time and had exhibitions in London and East Anglia. She moved to Walberswick full time in 2000 and was a member of the Suffolk Coastal Group and Artists of Walberswick. She died at James Paget University Hospital.

Eveline's funeral service will take place at St Andrews Church on Wednesday January 30th at 11.30am
