Village Fete

The Walberswick Village Fete is always a well organised affair but this year it was run with military precision. The whole day was arranged to mark the First World War Centenary and the fete was opened by Gerneral Sir Richard Shirreff, who was escorted to the site by USAAF vehicles and personnel in WWII uniforms. The crowds poured into the village and the weather was kind until a heavy downpour mid afternoon, but even this didn't dampen the spirits of those determined to have a good, traditional fun time with stalls, games and food which generated an unprecedented total of £11,200. The funds raised will be divided equally between The Village Hall and St Andrews Church.
