RE: SUFFOLK COASTAL CORE STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT POLICIES DEVELOPMENT PLAN DOCUMENT
I am writing to advise you that following Examination by an independent planning Inspector, the Council's Pre-Submission Core Strategy & Development Management Policies Development Plan Document has been found “sound” subject to modifications.
A copy of the Inspector's Report is on the Council's website and is available for viewing or downloading using the following link or can be viewed at the Council Offices.
The Council can now adopt the Core Strategy but only if it agrees to the Inspector's recommended modifications. The next stage is for the Council to consider the formal adoption of the Core Strategy together with the modifications recommended by the Inspector. An extraordinary meeting of the Full Council has been arranged for the 2pm, Friday 5th July 2013 which will recommend that the Council now formally adopt the Core Strategy. The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber at the Council Offices, Melton Hill, Woodbridge IP12 1AU.
Dependent on the outcome of the Council meeting, hard copies of the Adopted Core Strategy document will be available in final published form as soon as practicably possible after that. Copies will be provided free to all town and parish councils. Reference copies will be provided to local libraries. Copies will also be available for purchase from the Council. The price has yet to be confirmed.
The Adopted Core Strategy is a very important document as it provides the planning policy basis for the determination of planning applications. It sets out the long term development strategy for the District to 2027.
The Adopted Core Strategy also provides the basis for the identification and allocation of individual sites for housing, employment or other uses; for the identification of areas to be protected from development; and for re-assessment of town centre and other boundaries. This work will be undertaken primarily by the Council in conjunction with local communities, but also by those towns and parishes who have elected to undertake a Neighbourhood Plan. To date, formal applications for Neighbourhood Area Designation have been received from Great Bealings; Framlingham; Leiston; Melton and Rendlesham parish and town councils.
This work will be taking place over the next 18 months and will be subject to formal consultation in due course.
