St Andrew’s Church, Walberswick
Friday 9 October – Friday 4 December 2020
St Andrews Church is currently closed to visitors for a period of eight weeks to allow essential quinquennial repairs to the building.
While regretfully taken, the decision was made to ensure the safety of the workforce and visitors and to allow the swift facilitation of this work at a time of year when the weather is hugely unpredictable.
The contractors R&J Hogg Ltd are also working under strict guidelines to adhere to Covid-19 directives.
The work involves extensive repairs to the roofing, drainage, floors and masonry in the south porch, and other areas of the church which will result in a wonderful dry and redecorated area.
We are hugely grateful to the Walberswick Common Lands Charity, Suffolk Historic Churches Trust, the Wolfson Foundation in association with ChurchCare and All Churches Trust for generously awarding us grants to enable these essential works.
Please do bear with us during this time and enjoy a walk around the stunning and imposing ruins and our well-maintained graveyard.
Please note: Church services planned for Sunday 18 October and 7 and 21 November at 11.15am and Wednesdays at 10am will still take place socially distanced. Enter the church via the Choir Vestry to the rear of the building, through the ruins.
We look forward to welcoming you again during Advent.
