Bailey Bridge re-opening
We are happy to confirm that the bulk of the repair and refurbishment works on the Bailey Bridge are now complete. During the last three months, significant safety defects have been addressed and key structural members of the bridge have been replaced and the bridge will be re-opened for use on Monday 27th September.
This work will ensure the integrity of the bridge for decades to come.
While all closure barriers and signs, along with the advisory, FAQ and legal notices currently visible onsite will be removed on Monday morning, there is still some minor maintenance to complete which will likely go on for another couple of weeks. We are assured however, that this continued presence of workmen at the Bailey Bridge will have minimal impact on members of the public and that it will remain open
The Parish Council would like to thank everyone for their continued patience and support during this project. Particular thanks to Dani and the crew at the Ferry for their hard work all summer and to Councillors who have worked with Suffolk Highways and other stakeholders to help minimise the impact of the closure to the extent possible.
