On Thursday 3rd April the telephone was removed from our Telephone box on the village green. Don't forget that the Parish Council is looking for ideas to repurpose our lovely landmark!
As previously reported:
Given its ongoing low level of usage (just 12 calls made in the last 12 months), it has concluded this time that the service will cease over the next couple of months. The Parish Council, very aware of the importance of the telephone box itself as an iconic piece of street furniture on The Green, bought the telephone box from BT (for the princely sum of £1). It is now protected for the village.
It has its own mains power supply and the obvious question now is "what shall we do with it?" Anyone wishing to make a suggestion should email the Parish Clerk at clerk@walberswick-pc.gov.uk. This will also be a topic for discussion at this year's Annual Parish Meeting in May.
