On Tuesday last week about 10 o'clock a large fire was discovered on Walberswick common. A strong wind was blowing at the time, and the flames spread with alarming rapidity towards the north-east of the church. Fortunately, the fire did not reach the cottages, but some outbuildings were burned, and the garden produce scorched. Some of the rails on the railway bank were destroyed.
